Alexis Weaver

Alexis Weaver

With a background in classical performance, Alexis Weaver had no idea that her musical interest would settle in the world of electroacoustic composition. She enjoys fusing her traditional musical education with the ever-expanding area of music technology, having composed soundtracks for animation, short stories, radio, and the Sydney Fringe Festival. Recently, her acousmatic and radiophonic works have been broadcast overseas in France and Scotland, and Alexis was awarded First Place and People’s Choice Award in the 2016 and 2015 University of Sydney Verge Awards respectively for her acousmatic works. She is interested in all aspects of music creation, appreciation and distribution, and her aim is to juxtapose the beautiful and the unusual to celebrate the versatility of recorded sound.

Alexis is currently undertaking her Honours year at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, under supervisors Liza Lim and Daniel Blinkhorn. She is also one quarter of the all-female experimental music group, lost+sound.
