Cat Jones

Cat Jones is an interdisciplinary artist, writer and curator. Her work investigates concepts of human & inter-species empathy, sexual & gender politics through the subversion of social constructs, language, science and history. Her artworks are realised in diverse forms and include performance, audio, video, photography, immersive and site-specific experiences, visual-tactile illusion and olfaction.

Cat was awarded a Creative Australia Fellowship in 2012 for research into plant signaling and human plant relationships; in 2014 she received an ANAT Synapse residency to work with leading Australian neuroscientists on body illusions and chronic pain; and in 2015 she was in residency at the Institute of Art and Olfaction Los Angeles. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and international residencies. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally.

Cat was previously Artistic Director and CEO of PACT centre for emerging artists 2009-2012; Co-Director Electrofringe 2006-2008, then Chairperson 2008-2010. She has a range of arts management experience across artforms and funding bodies. She is regularly a panelist on national and international selection and artistic advisory committees and currently on the selection committee for CIA studio residencies. She has a BA- Drama, QUT.
