Marta Zapparoli

Marta Zapparoli

Marta Zapparoli is an Italian experimental sound artist, improviser, performer and self-taught researcher. She works and lives in Berlin. Her sonic work is developed by self-recorded sound from the external world using a wide of devices, microphones, antennas, radio receivers, detectors and ultrasonics with unconventional techniques. She is interested in the boundaries and relations between acoustic ecology, man-made-noise, radio waves phenomena, radio nature (VLF). She is investigating these earth voices and the space around it and the multiple effects of its spectral side which shape our sense and perception of the reality. She uses these recorded signals during live performances with reel to reel tape machines and tape recorders in order to create strongly narrative sonic pieces. She is a member of the 24 pieces “Splitter Orchester” and is involved in many different projects. She has performed in festivals all over Europa and Turkey, U.S.A, UK.
