Fulya Uçanok

Fulya Uçanok

Fulya Uçanok is an electroacoustic musician and pianist, composing, performing, and improvising. Her work takes forms of score-based or improvised performance, composition and artistic research. She works with acoustic pianos coupled with a variety of objects (inside-piano technique), electronics and sound recordings.

She is interested in exploring the interfaces of connection within socio-sonic sound engagements. She likes collaborating with musicians, and with non-human bodies (more-than-human agents and physical material agents). She loves thinking and making with/through movement and gestures. And so, in her work, she focuses on embodied explorations for listening, performance and composing; where she explores weaving theoretical, sensory and movement-based forms of thinking and expression into the sonic process.

She likes creating, being and sharing in environments for listening and making with those who come from different experiences and backgrounds. These communal teaching/learning environments are important spaces where her sonic thinking and artistic research is informed socially, culturally and politically.
